1:45 PM - 2:45 PM        Me Talk Pretty One Day: Building Emotional Intelligence, Effective Communication, Productive Feedback and a Compassionate Workplace

In healthcare, effective communication is essential. We strive to provide the best care to ourselves, to our co-workers and our patients. However, it can be difficult to find the right words to express our own needs while supporting the feelings and agendas of others. Learn the basic components of emotional intelligence and their importance in leadership and success. Discover ways to keep negative emotions from igniting regrettable behaviors. Practice ways to give feedback in a focused and productive way and how to cultivate Compassionate Curiosity instead of Hostile Judgment. This session will end with a demonstration of Compassion Meditation and it’s applications in anger management and avoiding burnout.
